The Emancipation

We resist,
Refuse,
Rebel;

Our fear has evaporated,
Our birthright restored.

The blue sky,
Eye of the sun;
The horizon
Is ours to keep
Or release.

We soar,
Wings warm in the sun,
Breath cold in the dawn.

Ruby slippers be damned.

Rebellion

This weekend we're asking for exactly 33 words including an idiom somewhere within.  Examples of idioms include - add fuel to the fire or wear your heart on your sleeve.  You can find more examples and a definition of idiom here.  Good luck!

This is one of my favorite idioms, and it made me think of one of my favorite shows, Firefly.  I've had a very difficult March, and these past two weeks I have felt very much as though I were in a war zone. I am very sorry if I did not get to read everyone's Trifecta posts this week; what I was able to read kept me sane!

Out of the frying pan--

Behind smoking cars

Bombed out houses

We hid

Reloading

Staunching blood

Eating whatever was left

Searching for the smallest spark of courage

And then--

Back into the fire.

The Female Revolt of 1812

The Decemberist Revolt took place during the month of December in 19th century Russia when 3,000 soldiers protested Nicholas I's assumption of the throne on the first day of his reign.  He quickly squashed the revolt, but it impacted his regime as he went on to rule with an iron fist.

For the weekend challenge, we're asking you to write exactly 33 words about rebellion and/or revolt.  Interpret it as you will, just keep it to 33 words.

He had intended to march proudly for the rebellion.

Unfortunately, Oliver was killed by the violent shrapnel that flew as thousands of well-fed women simultaneously snipped the suffocating metal stays on their corsets.
