I Finally Did It!

I promised myself that I would do some pampering over this year's spring break. And I did. I got a pedicure, had my eyebrows 'done', and took lots of naps. All this between various child-related events such as the zoo.

It has been so long since I had my hair cut that I could not say exactly when I last sat in the chair. Some time in May or June of 2013 was the best that I could do.  So I was ready, but nervous.

I went to a place called Blondes, Brunettes, and Redheads, and saw Nancy. She asked me what I wanted, and all I could remember to say was that I wanted to be able to put my hair in a pony tail.  That was it. All that whining I've been doing since last year? Vanished. I sat there quietly.

After Nancy started cutting, THEN my brain snapped to it. Absolutely NO bobs, it said. More volume at the crown. Watch out for all the cowlicks! A seemingly never ending stream of comments, saved up over the last year, flooded my consciousness.

So did I speak up? Absolutely not! Are you crazy? Never try to tell a woman with scissors what to do, especially when she is cutting your hair!  I kept all that commenting in my head where it belonged.

And I did not leave with a bob, nor did I end up with the Fat Girl Special(super short hair to make those pounds vanish!). I ended up with a sort of layered medium cut, and I am happy.

Now I need a nap!

  2. Very nice!! :) I am going to con my friend (and also my hairdresser) to come over and color mine soon by offering to do her taxes. Pretty fair trade if you ask me. :)

  3. My mom calls the bob a half shingle. It's the haircut her mom gave until mom left to go work in the mill and got to choose her haircut. Looking good in your picture.

  4. Good for you! Like you, I don't really do regular hair cuts or pedicures or eyebrow waxing or... well, anything, so when I finally do I feel glamorous for weeks.

I welcome comments, but reserve the right to correct your spelling because I am OCD about it!
