#secretpiefridge

Write on Edge prompt:  In that spirit, for Friday write a 400 word or less scene which shows the event(s) which led to this hashtag:
#secretpiefridge
This is fiction, of course, which may or may not have been based on actual events.

Theresa dropped everything, closed the door and locked it. Her exhaustion hit her like a tsunami.  It was good to be home, she thought, kicking off her heels.  Since David was working late tonight, she could turn in early.   She headed toward the kitchen.  The last piece of chocolate coconut creme pie was in the fridge. Theresa had been thinking about that pie all day.

Except that there was no pie.

Theresa stared at the empty plate, willing the pie to be there, but there was no pie.  There was only a red envelope with her name on it.  She stared at that envelope a moment, willing it to become a piece of pie. When that didn't happen, she opened the envelope.

"If you want the pie, you'll have to find it.  Follow the rose petals."

Rose petals?  Theresa looked down, and there were rose petals underneath her feet. Where is the pie, David? she thought grumpily.  She was in no mood for games, but there was pie.  She followed the rose petals up the stairs, down the hall, to the bathroom door.  A red note card was taped to the door.

"Come in and get naked."

Theresa pushed open the door to find the steamy bathroom candlelit, the tub filled with her favorite flavor of bubbles.  Sighing irritably, she removed her clothes, stepped into the tub and sank into the still piping hot water. She closed her eyes, letting the warm water soothe her aching muscles.  When she opened her eyes, her beloved husband was standing next to the tub, still dressed in his suit and tie, a glass of red extended toward her.

"Where's the pie, David?" Theresa asked as she took the offered wine.  David just smiled, moving about the room, placing two fluffy towels next to the tub, then kneeling on the floor next to the tub.  He was still smiling, as if he knew a secret, as he leaned in to kiss her.  Theresa grabbed his silk tie in a wet fist, pulling his face very close.  They were eye to eye, and she slammed her mouth on his with a fevered intensity, her tongue taking possession of his.  He was breathless when she finished, yet she still held him captive, staring longingly into his eyes.  She licked her lips, took a breath.

"Give me the damn pie, David."

  1. Oh. My. Goodness. I just love it, but is the pie part of the treat, or is the bath to make up for him eating the pie? Will this man live or not?

    1. There is a narrow minded focus, when it comes to pie. Thanks for reading!

  3. zowie. There's an entire story waiting to be told of this apparently volatile marriage. I'm afraid it will probably burn the house down. :)

  6. I love that all the mushy stuff did not quell her grumpies or need for pie! Nice twist. I chuckled.

  7. I get the feeling someone is in trouble - and I don't think it matters whether or not he ate the pie. He did something with it and that's what matters. I love it!
